"Inspiring Dreams: Where Art Meets Architecture!"

In 2020, I created a painting that blended my love of storytelling with the energy of movement, hope, and purpose. The piece, titled “Shooting Hoops”, was inspired by a conversation with my friend Mike; a talented designer, community leader, and someone I deeply admire.

At the time, Mike was running MAS Graphic Arts, a creative design business. That’s how we met-through a shared passion for visual storytelling. I was looking to connect with other artists and designers in the area, and Mike was one of the first to open the door to collaboration. Though he wasn’t in a place to hire, he invited me to work on logo designs and, later, book covers that needed a custom artistic touch. Many of the pieces featured in my Special Projects portfolio came from those early creative partnerships. Mike and I have always enjoyed working together, and we’re excited to collaborate on another book cover project next month.

Here is how it began:

One day, Mike shared something more personal-his dream of one day opening a basketball training program for underprivileged kids. His vision was full of heart: a space where youth could grow not only as athletes, but as leaders with integrity, confidence, and discipline. That conversation stayed with me.

“Shooting Hoops” was my response to that dream. The 48” x 36” oil painting features three basketball players soaring across a brick wall backdrop, with the MAS logo rising behind them. The central figure is painted in a pose that reflects Mike himself; mid-jump, strong, and focused. It was my way of honoring his vision and encouraging him to pursue it.

Years later, that dream became a reality. Mike launched MAS Basketball, a youth program built on mentorship, discipline, and character. Today, a large fabric print of the painting hangs proudly in the MAS gym, where it fuels the space with energy and heart. Seeing Mike stand in front of it-mirroring the exact pose I painted-was one of those full-circle moments I’ll never forget.

Mike is also the founder of REACT Creative Media, a design and branding company where his creativity continues to shine. What I admire most about Mike isn’t just his artistic vision-it’s his heart. He’s a devoted father, a compassionate mentor, a loving husband, and someone who constantly pours into others. His commitment to empowering people is evident in everything he does.

Art has the power to inspire. So does belief in someone’s dream. And when those two come together-something truly meaningful begins to grow.
